New York City, N.Y (MMD Newswire) July 28, 2010 -- Biotivia - a world leading resveratrol-based supplement and skin care specialist - has launched a formula that contains both prebiotics and probiotics. The new forest fruit flavored drink is called Florativia.

Recent research into prebiotics is showing a whole range of health benefits. They play an important role in preventing and reducing the symptoms of several ailments including lactose intolerance, Irritable Bowel Syndrome, Candida, C.difficile, diarrhea, abdominal bloating and lowering cholesterol.

The good bacteria are known as probiotics and their health benefits are well documented. They help the gut to digest food and to keep the bad bacterias at bay, ensuring a healthy stomach and preventing many illnesses from occurring.

However, little information is being relayed about the helpful 'cousin' of probiotics, which are called prebiotics. Prebiotics are non-digestible ingredients which stimulate the growth of bacteria and help maintain the delicate balance of bacteria in the gastrointestinal system. So to get the full benefits of probiotics, one also needs the prebiotics which help those friendly bacteria thrive.

James Betz, founder and CEO of Biotivia said: "This is a first of its kind supplement as until now it wasn't possible to put prebiotics and probiotics together as they would neutralize each other when combined. But after 20 months of research we came up with the unique 'twist 'n shake' small daily dose bottle which keeps the prebiotics and probiotics apart until the time of consumption.

Betz continues: "Anyone who is suffering from poor digestion, constipation, bloating, IBS or a number of other stomach complaints ... or who just want to create a healthier gut, should take up our one month Florativia challenge. Purchase one month's worth of Florativia for $49.96 and we guarantee you will feel the benefits."

Farmers Turn to Hydroponics to Produce Feed for Cattle, Horses and Other Livestock

July 27, 2010 (MMD Newswire) -- Fodder Solutions hydroponic system gives US farmers a greener, more cost-effective option. Initially developed in Australia, the Fodder system is a hydroponic (soil-free) growing room that has been specifically developed to sprout grain and legume seeds for highly nutritious yet cost-effective livestock feed and other fresh produce.

Fodder's technology allows fresh feed and produce to be grown anywhere quickly; a thousand pounds of barley, wheat or corn grows into eight thousand pounds of feed in only six days. According to the manufacturers, farmers will not only save money on feed costs but will also have healthier animals because of the raw nutrients and increased hydration. The "sprout mat" is edible, and the animals eat the entire mat, as well as the greens and the roots.

"While Fodder Solutions systems are for anyone who owns animals that eat grass or hay, they're not just for farmers and ranchers. Our systems are also for people who want to grow their own salad mixes and sprouts all year round in any climate and any location. Whether they're natural-foods restaurant owners or other retailers, co-op gardeners or individual families seeking a more sustainable lifestyle, growers of fresh produce can have a consistent supply twelve months a year with this technology," emphasizes Terry Colless, president of Fodder Solutions USA, Inc.

Although Fodder Solutions technology has only been for sale in the USA for a couple of months, the systems have already generated significant user enthusiasm. The company believes that one of the biggest selling points is that the systems are very environmentally friendly, using only 1% of the water that broad-acre production uses. This should be welcome news not only for farmers who yearly face drought worries, but also for anyone who is concerned about the mounting global water crisis.
